Developing Leader
What is a Developing Leader
A Developing Leader Is…
…The 40-year-old Kenyan woman who serves her field and has a vision for the global church. She may never have heard of NMI or how we connect the local church to that global mission, but she has a holy unrest to see her field and her church mature and grow.
…The 32-year-old Guatemalan man who has just graduated with a bachelor’s degree in micro-finance. He has learned how low-cost loans can benefit mission work in other world areas. While he has never attended an NMI event, he deeply desires to involve the church in meeting the physical and spiritual needs of those who are not yet followers of Christ.
…The 23-year-old American woman who studied in Russia for a semester. She is back in the U.S.A. and wants to teach school here, but senses her life needs to be invested in the church’s global mission. She doesn’t quite know what that looks like yet.
Developing leaders are those who will carry the church forward, one way or another. You can see it in their spirit—an excited, unsettled energy with potential to spread mission passion further than we can imagine. They are already involved in mission work in some way, or they are thinking about it. However, they are either not sure what NMI has to do with them, or unaware of NMI altogether. Or maybe they are new to NMI, so they don’t hold a delegate position. We want them to know there is a place for them at Global Mission Conference.
Dream with us of ways we can communicate with developing leaders in your networks, your NYI presidents’ networks, your pastors’ networks, and your college representatives’ networks.
Close your eyes and think of the person in your church or on your district who is an energetic young leader but who may be currently unconnected to NMI. Imagine how they might influence the churches they pastor, the youth groups they lead, the children they teach, the homeless shelter where they volunteer, the friends they disciple. Ask yourself, what would it take to see this person reach their full potential in God’s mission? How can I be a guide along their journey? Finally put action to your imagination and be God’s agent in discipling next generations of developing leaders in global mission
