To My Nazarene Ministry Partner

Global leaders of God's mission are preparing now for a very important offering: Harvest 2011 (the annual Thanksgiving/Harvest offering for the World Evangelism Fund [WEF]). Thank you for partnering with key leaders in your church to promote mission giving. This partnership in ministry defines so much about who we are as Nazarenes together.

We love…by serving the lost people in every country, province, and town globally that need Jesus. Now is the day of salvation. We challenge every Nazarene to make Christlike disciples in the nations and to give generously for global evangelism.

We focus…on this global annual offering for the World Evangelism Fund. We are not promoting a “plus concept” like last year. This year, the entire Harvest 2011 offering is for the World Evangelism Fund. Profoundly simple!

We maximize…by utilizing the resources developed in partnership with Stewardship Ministries, Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries International, and Clergy Development. For the benefit of your church, please download any of the following: video clips, prayer initiative, sermon ideas, graphics, and visit the Web site.

We collaborate…because, together with Christ, we can make a massive impact for Him in such a time as this! Let us know how we can collaborate with you during this season. We’re happy to answer any questions and guide you to the resources necessary for fulfilling God's mission in the world.

Theme

The theme for this year’s WEF harvest offering is Harvest 2011: Plant. Grow. Thrive. And the focus is on the life of a “mustard seed” donation: a gift sown in faith and bathed in prayer that spreads to cover the Earth with Christ’s love.

There are three weeks of emphasis: Planting with Faith, Growing through Prayer, and Thriving in Christ. The third and final week, “Thriving in Christ,” would end on the weekend of the offering—scheduled for October 9, 2011, in Canada and November 20, 2011, in the U.S.A. and most other world regions.

It’s important to note that prayer is a large focus of Harvest 2011. For that reason, there is a prayer initiative (available for download HERE) that coincides with each week’s emphasis. For local, district, and regional leaders, there is an additional week called Devotionals for Leaders that will help you and your council to prepare your heart, mind, and congregation for Harvest 2011.

Resources

Digital resources are available for download on the Harvest 2011 Web site. There you’ll find clip art, sermon helps, the prayer initiative, bulletin inserts, and much more. Of course, if you have a particular need (i.e. editable art, a special file type, the name of the fonts used in the artwork, etc.), contact Stewardship Ministries by e-mailing your request to stewardship@nazanene.org.

You can order free Harvest 2011 offering envelopes from Nazarene Publishing House for a limited time, but—as always—generic WEF offering envelopes are available, free of charge, from Nazarene Publishing House (NPH) as well.

To get the youngsters involved, consider ordering a set of Kids’ Quarter Collectors ($8.99 for a pack of 10 from NPH) to use in conjunction with the Guided Prayer for Children section of the Harvest 2011 prayer initiative.

Be sure to connect with everyone else who is participating: Just visit Harvest 2011 on Facebook or Twitter and join in! If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please contact Stewardship Ministries by e-mailing stewardship@nazanene.org or by calling (800) 544-8413.

In Him,
Daniel D. Ketchum, Ph.D.
